Croci Cabin (GR20 in Corsica)

The little cabin of Croci is a mountain refuge, a great little accommodation full of character.
It is situated on the plateau Cuscionu at 1550m altitude, near to Zicavo village.  
 
The bergerie or ‘shepherd’s cabin’ is open from May through to the month of October. During your stay you can sample some of the home produced farm products, such as, smoked meats, homemade jam, myrtle and grilled meats.
 
The accommodation consists of 3 dormitories, 3 hot showers and a lovely panoramic terrace that offer a 360° view across the plateau.  We also have a camping ground with a natural spring, fresh cold water much appreciated by walkers.  We are surrounded by an oak tree forest and pozzini.  Pozzini, are small wells and runnels of water, with a lovely spongy turf that leads down to the nearby mountain torrent.  It is a very idyllic place to rest and soak up the wild nature.

If you are walking from the North, undertaking the stage from Usciolu to Asinau, our cabin is situated at 6 hours walking time from Usciolu and 3h30 walking time before Asinau.
It takes about 7 hours to walk from our refuge to the famous Col of Bavella.

When you sit down to dinner at night, you can be sure of a convivial, festive family atmosphere. Jean Louis, your host takes great pleasure in receiving walkers.  He is also keen to make sure you taste the local specialties.  It is a good spot for a family holiday. If you are interested in doing different day walks you are spoilt for choice with the bergerie as a base.  You can discover the rich flora and fauna, the tradition of pastoralism, the swim spots etc….

You can be sure that whether you stay one night or longer at the refuge de Croci you can be sure of a warm welcome, some hearty Corsican cuisine.  You will set off refreshed, replenished, well rested and well fed.  Croci, is a corner of natural beauty that will not leave indifferent.
